For our 1960's scene it was going to be filmed in a diner and the perfect diner we was thinking of was Ed's diner which is an american diner, over the past 2 weeks, we all had gone and visited Ed's diner in Soho and Piccadilly, the one we visited was in soho....However we looked inside the restauraunt and the place was very small, so then we decided to go to the Piccadilly braunch and met with the manager who then gave us bad news and said they do not accept media students anymore. After being declined by Ed's diner we still had to try and think about other places that have an inspired 1950's or 1960's. Tinseltown is another american diner that is similar to Ed's diner, we visited the nearest branch which was in Oxford street, we went in and met the manager there who kindly said it would be a mostly likely definite of them letting us film inside their diner but he would have to email his manager. We then exchange our emails so that he could email us about what his manager would of said back which is a positive answer.

Audition tape selector
As a group we all sat down and watched all the audition tapped that were sent in, we have decided to pick the final two actors, who are Riordan and Brigite. The reason why we choose Riordan is because he can act and sing even thought the role for the male lead is to act but he seems very confident which fits with the male role who is someone that is confident and likes to tease the girl therefore Riordan seems like he was a good candidate for the music video. As for the female lead Brigite seems like the perfect candidate because she sand very well along with the actual song and her personality and appearance matched with the description of our female singer.

Friday the 19th
Today we designed a leaflet and a business card to give out to people and in the leaflet in contained a brief summary of the theme of our music video and we put a descrption of what the male role would need to do in the music video. We also put our name, email address and name of the song so that the male reader can search it up and know what kind of song it is.

Looking for male candidates
Today me, karolina and kelechi went out to find actors to star and audition for our music video, we've walked down Oxford Street to Leicester Square to Tottenham court road. We've found a few candidate and showed them our Audition leaflets and gave the our contact details. Also we went into Ed's Diner to talk to the manager about filming the music video inside the diner. However we have not found the answer yet because we needed to contact a higher senior of Ed's Diner' we've got the number to that person.
Love whiplash Storyline (Narrative)
Beginning:
The scene opens up with an establishing shot of a classroom setting with the female and male characters sitting in class. A lesion is taking part and we get a mid-shot of the protagonist staring into space and then an eye-line match edit is used to show the female looking at the clock which is ticking really slowly (slow motion editing) with that the teachers voice becomes much slower. There is also a shot of her looking at her crush ( the male protagonist) in front of her. There is also an intertextual reference to Britney Spears song “Hit Me Baby One More Time” as she recreates the pencil smacking on the desk. We are then shown a mid-shot of her reading the book, followed by a close up of the book and then as she turns the page of the book she starts to daydream and the next page of the book illustrates her imagination where she sees a split screen shot of her and her crush talking on the phone however she is brought into the 1950’s. The camera goes into that shot and the music starts playing.
The Next Three Verses: 1960’s.
Intertextual references: Ed’s Diner, Roy Lichtenstein, Pleasantville.
The scene opens up with a Roy Lichtenstein inspired artwork of the setting of both the protagonists entering Ed Diners.
They are both shown to be on a date with a close up shot of her wiping food from his face.
Then an attractive female walks into the restaurant and the male character gets distracted by her beauty and doesn’t listen to what his date is talking about. The female blows a kiss which is shown through a 4 way split screen. The male protagonist responds with a drool which is again illustrated through a 4 way split screen. The female protagonist responds with a slap on her partners face and this is repeated twice and illustrated through a 4 way split screen.
She storms off, and he follows her home. She attempts to block him out of the house, however, he refuses this and pushes he’s way through. They end up in the living room of her house, whilst the television is playing a black and white movie. The two appear arguing, as they block the way of the television screen as the female’s character’s brother is watching the movie. This is a mirroring effect used to amplify the idea that the protagonists are in parallel to those characters on screen. A two way shot is used here. The brother becomes annoyed, therefore, decides to change the channel – an over the shoulder shot is placed here. He changes the channel, as well as changing the scene.
As the television channel changers, the protagonist warp into the television screen, where the bench scene from Annie Hall is taking place – the protagonists of the music video are now in character of the protagonists from the movie Annie Hall.
The Next Three Verses: 1970’s.
Intertextual References: Annie Hall {with subtitles} – scene whereby, protagonists of the film are seen sitting on the bench, engaging in an awkward relationship-based conversation.
The next scene portrays the bench scene from Annie Hall, whereby the lead female singer and the male love interest are sitting on a bench in a park in conversation. A two way shot is used to show this; as well as shot-reverse-shots of them having this exchange in dialogue.
The Use of Subtitles: The male and female protagonists are addressing and discussing the male’s ‘womanising ways’ and the wrong doings of it all. {Use of shot-reverse-shots and two way shots} The lead female singer appears to be singing the verses {mentioned above} towards the male individual. On the screen, it will then display subtitles of how both the girl and the boy really feel – the female protagonist expressing, such as; “Oh, just shut up and kiss me” and ultimately insulting him.
An establishing shot is then used to reveal the female protagonist’s friends/associates {4 of them} appearing to provide support her in the confliction between her and the male love interest. The girls assemble together to attempt to “gang-up” on the guy to ensure that she is getting her point across. Thus, makes a reference to the idea/revolution of Feminism that was in fact introduced in this decade – females coming together to propose their own views and values, and attempting to dominate and demonstrate the idea of equality between both sexes.
The male protagonist gets up to start running, and a chase begins to take place in the park; the lead female singer continues to sing, and an over the shoulder shot is used to show the guy running ahead – from the female’s perspective/point of view. The male trips up, and falls to the floor – a high angle shot is used {he is now at a vulnerable position}. The girls assemble and surround him. A long shot is used here. The female lead singer steps forward to confront him, and they in face-to-face with each other. There’s a close up shot of the male grabbing her arm. He pulls her, and they run off with each other. A long shot is also used here, panning into them running.
They turn a corner. He pulls her up against the wall, which is shown through a mid-camera-shot. An over the shoulder shot is framed from the male’s point of view revealing a close up view of the lead singer’s face. An extreme close up shot is placed here, as both characters lean in to kiss. A soft focus edit is then adjusted here to then display the female lead singer back in the modern day, sitting in her classroom {showing that she has been daydreaming}, as the bell rings.

Pitch Presentation
The
main criticism was that although our older female secondary audience
may recognise the intertextual references to the older classic films
e.g. Pillow Talk and Annie Hall this may not be so apparent to our
main target audience who were teenage girls who would only recognise
two intertextual references which were Britney Spears hit me baby one
more time and Roy Lichtenstein pop art. So instead of changing the
intertextual references we decided to spend more time on researching and
planning the mise en scene of our music video to portray the concept
of love and relationships across different decades.
Love Whiplash Pitch
This is our pitch slide of our love whiplash idea, we have included our story narrative, theme, target audience, intertextual reference, mise-en-scene and story board
Aria Monteza (The Artist)
When it came to searching up the song that we wanted to do was "Love Whiplash by Jayme Dee" However as we was creating our presentation picth of our song and narrative we decided to change the artits name which was orginally Jayme Dee but we came up with many different names so that we can put it together and decide what name we would our artist to be so when then decided with Aria Monteza which is a unique name and hopefully will stand out from other artist.

Love whiplash lyrics
I never know if you're serious
It's all so vague and mysterious
With me and you
Just when I think we're on solid ground
You pull the rug out and out and knock me down
Are you just trying to play with me?
Do you get joy from my misery
I'd like to think
It's just a phase and we'll work it out
But you keep jerking my heart around
Now I've caught a bad case of love whiplash
You push me off and then you pull me back
Please could you tell me if you're being sincere
Cause darling I can't stand to cry another tear
I'm losing count of the damages
My heart is covered in bandages, it's what you do
I'm not so hard to accommodate
Just get a clue or get on your way
Now I've caught a bad case of love whiplash
You push me off and then you pull me back
Please could you tell me if you're being sincere
Cause darling I can't stand to cry another tear
It's not a long conversation
Don't waste all your precious time
It's not a difficult equation
A simple yes or no will do just fine
Cause I've got a bad case of love whiplash
Now I've caught a bad case of love whiplash
Yeah, now, now, now
Now I've caught a bad case of love whiplash
You broke my heart and now you want it back
Please could you tell me if you're being sincere
Cause darling I can't stand to cry another tear
Now I've caught a bad case of love whiplash, oh, oh
Now I've caught a bad case of love whiplash

FINAL CHOSEN SONG FOR OUR MUSIC VIDEO
After looking at different kind of songs that would represent our vintage theme. This is the song we choose which is by Jayme Dee - Love WhipLash
Music Video Mind Map
This is our first draft of coming up with a music video idea
When it came to planning our music video, we had to come up with song that we would want to create a music video for. Therefore we came up with a theme which involves vintage (classics), so we looked for a song which would relate to the vintage theme. We then looked at a particular genre which was alternative pop and pop, we listed as many songs we could find that would relate or give the feel of our vintage theme. We also put down list or props we would need to represent our theme (vintage), we also came up with ideas of costumes of what the actors would wear and a rough idea of a storyline. We did out ideas on a A3 paper using different colours of sticky notes

Selections of songs
Travis Garland - Blue electric roses. When we heard this song we had an idea of if we were to pick the song the narrative would be the male singer walking on the beach with the female protagonist
Jayme Dee Love Whiplash we had an idea of traveling through time with the singer demonstrating her love problems.
Jayme Dee
Using the same ideas as her love whiplash song
