In today's lesson we learnt about CD digipaks such as analysing how these digipaks tell people who what kind of genre these artist are and who are their target market.

For example
we looked at two different kind of genre CD covers, one was dance covers and the other were mainstream pop.

We had to analyse two dance CDs and Two female pop CDs

These were the two dance CD we analysed, we had to talk about the comparison and the contrast between the two CD cover.

The comparison between the two is that they both feature the artist in it and has the title on top. The contrast is that Icona Pop artist image is a mid shot to show the male gaze and to see the fashion style because it helps audiences to recognise the genre of the CD which is dance pop. The audience of Icona Pop would be females who listen to pop dance music. Whereas Chromeo cover uses a low angle long shot of them. Their target market would be male geeks who are single and does not have a lot of social time.

We also analysed mainstream CD covers

The contrast and comparison between Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey. The comparison is that the CD features the artist in the picture and taken from a mid shot. The contrast between the two is that the way these two artist is posed which helps audiences know what kind of market the CD is aiming for and the genre. Looking at taylor swift I feel that she's a pop artist because of the font and the way she is posing in the album. whereas Lana Del Rey has a straight, serious face which tells me that her songs are not pop but something that would be serious (alternative)
